Microcontroller meets needs of modern appliances
Toshiba Electronics Europe has launched a flash microcontroller specifically designed to meet the needs of modern home appliance applications including washing machines, dryers, and dishwashers.
Despite their small size, each device can deliver a maximum on-state output current of 1.2A RMS and operate with a minimum peak off state voltage of 600V.
Toshiba's TLP3616 and TLP3617 consist of a phototriac optically coupled to a gallium arsenide (GaAs) infra-red emitting diode.
Both couplers feature a minimum isolation voltage rating of 2500V RMS and are UL recognised in accordance with UL1577.
Trigger LED current is just 10mA.
The TLP3616 provides non-zero-crossing (NZC) functionality and the TLP3617 has a zero-crossing (ZC) configuration.
Target applications for the new devices include washing machines, dishwashers, heaters, industrial systems and other AC power and triac driven applications.
