PLCC2-packaged LEDs are bright choice
Efficient white LEDs provide luminous intensity levels as high as 750mcd from a standard, compact PLCC2 package.
Toshiba Electronics Europe has a new family of efficient white LEDs that provide luminous intensity levels as high as 750mcd from a standard, compact PLCC2 package The TLWx1100 series comprises four devices providing typical respective luminous intensities of 100, 180, 450 and 750mcd with a typical forward current (IF) of 20mA

Toshiba Electronics Europe has launched a flash microcontroller specifically designed to meet the needs of modern home appliance applications including washing machines, dryers, and dishwashers.
First 7.7-inch low-temp polysilicon LCD for eBooks
Toshiba today announced commercialisation of a 7.7-in low-temperature polysilicon TFT LCD designed for mid-size electronic book devices incorporating Microsoft ClearType display technology
All of the LEDs are supplied in a standard 3.2 x 2.8 x 1.9mm surface mount PLCC2 package.
Designed to provide consistent white light output with temperature, the new LEDs are ideal for panel indication and LCD backlighting applications.
In addition, the higher brightness products in the new range also provide a solution for engineers looking to replace incandescent bulbs in certain lighting applications.
Toshiba has employed two different technologies to produce the white light functionality.
The TLWJ1100 750mcd and TLWD1100 180mcd devices use a combination of a blue InGaN LED and yellow-emitting phosphor, whereas the TLWA1100 and TLWH1100 combine an ultraviolet InGaN LED to excite the phosphors and provide a softer light output.
Typical Cx and Cy chromaticity ratings (20mA forward current) are 0.32 and 0.31 for the blue LED-based devices and 0.33 and 0.32 for the UV LED-based parts.
The new LEDs offer efficient operation with maximum power dissipation of just 120mW for the TLWJ1100 and TLWD1100 parts and 126mW for the TLWA1100 and TLWH1100.
Typical forward voltage is 3.3 or 3.5V depending on the device chosen.
All the new Toshiba LEDs will operate at temperatures ranging from -40 to 100C.
