Configurable IC enables parallel implementation of three different logic functions in a single package.

Use of logic ICs in consumer, communication, industrial and other applications is constantly increasing, with many designs typically using separate logic ICs to deliver the various logic functions Now, however, Toshiba offers a configurable IC solution that enables parallel implementation of three different logic functions in a single package

By offering multiple, configurable logic functions from a single, miniature device, the new family of high-performance multifunction gate logic ICs from Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) can help designers to minimise component count, and save board space.

Toshiba's TC7MP97 and TC7MP98 high-performance, low-voltage ICs incorporate three logic circuits that allow the selection of seven different basic gate functions from a single device.

Depending on the device, designers can configure multiplexers, Schmitt inverters, Schmitt buffers, AND, OR, NAND and NOR logic, and combinations of these functions.

Device configuration is determined through selection of the appropriate three-pin input.

Designed for applications with logic levels between 1.5 and 3.3V, the TC7MP97 and TC7MP98 multifunction logic ICs offer guaranteed operation for supply voltages in the range from 1.2 to 3.6V.

All inputs and outputs are 3.6V-tolerant and are equipped with protection against static discharge.

Minimum output current is rated at +/-8mA at an operating voltage of 3.0V, and power-down protection is provided on all inputs and outputs.

The new ICs are available in a choice of miniature TSSOP14 and ultraminiature US14 packages measuring 6.4 x 5.0 x 1.2 and 4.0 x 4.0 x 1.0mm, respectively.

Maximum propagation delay times of just 8.5ns from 3.0 to 3.6V and 12.0ns from 2.3 to 2.7V results in high-speed operation, while the use of CMOS technology ensures low power dissipation.
