Toshiba Electronics is entering the retail market for add-on memory products with the launch of a complete range of branded memory cards and USB sticks at CeBIT On show are a full set of SD, SDHC, miniSD, miniSDHC, microSD, xD and CompactFlash cards, together with TransMemory USB Flash drives

All products will be displayed in a new blister pack design that features clear point-of-sale messaging in a fresh and bold style.

With families featuring industry-leading capacities, Toshiba is positioning its memory range as a premium brand, backed by the company's track record of technological innovation and history of delivering high quality consumer products.

From high definition TVs and laptop computers to the latest HD DVD players and mobile phones, Toshiba has led the way in delivering multimedia and digital entertainment solutions.

The new memory packs will be available through major European retailers from May 2007.

In November 2006 Toshiba was the first company to announce a Class 4 8Gbyte SDHC (SD High Capacity) card, which supports a data write speed of over 4Mbyte/s.

This card, together with the 16Gbyte version planned for this year, is designed to address the memory-hungry requirements of a new generation of audio, video and telecommunications devices.

The combination of capacity and high speed operation means that the Toshiba cards will be particularly well suited to the recording and playback of MPEG2 and MPEG4 video in both standard and high definition formats.

Toshiba's newly introduced 4Gbyte miniSDHC card is the industry's first Class 4 miniSDHC card, capable of sustained write speeds of 4Mbyte per second.

This advance will bring new levels of performance and functionality to mobile phones and other personal digital products.

A 2Gbyte microSD card, due for worldwide availability in April 2007, will also be featured on the Toshiba stand.

USB Flash Memory will be represented by Toshiba's TransMemory drives with capacities up to 4Gbyte.

Completing the line up will be 4 and 2Gbyte CompactFlash professional cards, the demand for which is expected to grow as consumer digital cameras move beyond 10Mpixel capacities.
