The DF2S6.8UFS electrostatic discharge protection diode is the first ultra low capacitance diode from Toshiba.

Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) has released the first device in a new ultra high speed family of ESD protection diodes aimed at interface protection applications for high-speed data ports such as USB2.0 interfaces.

With handheld and portable devices, including mobile phones and digital cameras, integrating ever more functionality into increasingly smaller form factors, providing electrostatic discharge protection becomes even more important.

The new DF2S6.8UFS electrostatic discharge protection diode is the first ultra low capacitance diode from Toshiba.

The company's ESD protection diode solutions now range from single up to 7-in-1 diode arrays with diode capacitances from several tens of pF down to 2pF.

The new ultra low capacitance protection diode has been designed to support the size and data rate demands found in these modern electronic devices.

The diminutive fSC package, measuring 0.8 x 0.6mm, makes it ideal for handheld and portable devices, where space is at a premium.

Despite its small footprint and ultra low capacitance the device offers ESD Immunity levels at +/-8kV for contact discharge according to the IEC61000-4-2 standard.

Due to the 2pF terminal to terminal capacitance of the device an extremely low signal attenuation for high-speed datalines is offered, which, together with a typical reverse voltage of 6.8V, makes the DF2S6.8UFS the perfect interface protection for devices with modern connectivity ports such as USB2.0.
