The 16G88 is a versatile and reliable 16mm, 4.5W motor from Portescap that is available in the UK from Trident Engineering.

Until now, such power was only available in a 22mm diameter body and so these new motors will prove ideal for applications where power-to-size ratio is critical such as miniature power tools for medical applications, robotic devices and similar equipment.

Despite its size there is no compromise on performance with the 16G88.

The ironless rotor construction ensures high acceleration combined with cog free movement even at low speeds.

In addition, the complete absence of magnetic saturation effects allows the motors to develop high peak torque and eliminates power-wasting iron losses.

16G88 motors are available, as standard, with windings to suit six different supply voltages, from 3 to 24V and motors for other voltages can be supplied to order.

The motors have a maximum recommended shaft speed of 12,000rev/min, and a typical maximum continuous output torque of 5mNm.
