Pressbrake guard system allows use of
both hands
BendGuard enables totally safe foot operation of a TrumaBend press brake, even at rapid speeds. It is estimated to allow up to 30% more productivity than other safety systems.
Two-handed operation of a press brake, or the presence of a 'lightguard', both have their advantages and disadvantages but neither offers universally fast and safe bending Trumpf's solution to the problem is the new BendGuard Safety System which accentuates the positives of each mode of operation and eliminates the negatives, in complete conformity with safety regulations
BendGuard enables totally safe foot operation of a TrumaBend press brake, even at rapid speeds.
It is estimated to allow up to 30% more productivity than other safety systems.
The operator's hands are free for workpiece handling and BendGuard allows all part geometries to be machined regardless of its opto-electronic protection.
This ensures minimal hindrance to bending process and requires minimal set-up when requirements change.
BendGuard transmits three laser beams, 9mm below the tip of the punch.
These precede the path of the upper tool, functioning as hand and finger guards.
If an obstruction breaks the beams, the downward movement of the press beam is immediately halted.
Once the obstruction is cleared, the bending process can be continued by depressing the foot pedal.
The effective width of the laser-protected area begins 20mm before the punch tip and extends to 20mm beyond it.
If boxes or troughs need to be bent, the two outer laser beams can be de-activated.
In this way, the disruptive contours of already-bent side-walls can be accommodated without compromising operator safety.
The transmitter and receiver of the laser beam are as quickly changeable as any normal punch in the upper tool holder.
The laser beam can also be quickly adjusted to suit all upper tool heights from 120mm to 390mm, in 10mm increments.
