It is enough to achieve a penetration of up to 1.5 to 2mm in steels.
The operator can manipulate a workpiece under the laser beam by hand, or using a small manipulator.
Filler wire can be added - in a similar manner to TIG welding - to build up a local boss or protusion, which can then be machined.
Or tooling edges can be rebuilt and machined afterwards.
A built-in stereo microscope assists with small workpieces.
It is possible to laser seam-weld or spot-weld small workpieces.
The jewelry industry would be able to weld intricate, fine structures without excessively distorting the work.
The ProfiWeld is mobile and transportable and features evacuation of welding fumes and a cooling system.
A standard power supply suffices and the machine is priced at around GBP 21,000.
