Warm glow of brisk fire business supports a cell
The warm glow from brisk on-going business has enabled Aarrow Fires to order a combination laser/punch CNC press cell with automated handling systems for 'lights out' operation.
The warm glow from brisk on-going business has enabled Aarrow Fires - the UK's leading manufacturer of wood, multifuel, gas and electric stoves - to order from Trumpf.
a new Trumatic 6000L-FMC for their factory in Bridport, Dorset.
This is a flexible metalworking cell comprising a Laserpress CNC combination laser/ punch-press, and a SheetMaster automated materials handling device.
The order was confirmed at Metalworking 2002 today.
Aarrow's Managing Director John Burgis chose the TC6000L Laserpress after first considering a 'stand-alone' laser machine.
The production of Aarrow's range of stoves and fires was obviously going to benefit from the high-quality, smooth edge finishes that laser could offer.
However, the 'combi' approach will enable a wider range of operations - such as forming - to be performed with greater efficiency by reducing machine set-ups and eliminating inter-machine component handling.
The inclusion of the integrated SheetMaster load and unload facility allows unmanned/lights-out operation, and this will enable the cell not only to replace a turret machine and a high-definition plasma profiler, but also create further capacity to meet growing product demand.
In choosing the TC6000L-FMC, the first in the UK, John Burgis confirms "When it comes to combi-machines, no one else comes close to Trumpf, they're head and shoulders above the rest.".
