The MK4004GAH 40Gbyte 1.8in hard disk drive is the size of a credit card and weighs only 62g, providing significant storage for next generation multimedia applications such as digital video cameras.
The latest additions to Toshiba's hard drive family store 40Gbyte per platter and support fast transfer rates and seek times, allowing users to access more data in less time.
The new HDDs are highly ruggedised and durable, with operating shock resistance of 200g and non-operating shock of up to 800g.
The drives are ideal for mobile applications, and their fast processing power will also enable users to enjoy advanced multimedia capabilities, including home video editing, video streaming and entertainment software.
The MK4025GAS and MK8025GAS are also suited for non-PC applications such as telecommunications, printers, copiers and GPS systems.

The MK8025GAS has 8Mbyte of buffer memory and an average seek time of 12ms.
It contains two platters, four heads and has acoustic noise of only 24dB when idle and 31dB in seek mode.
The products will initially be distributed through OEM partnerships, and will be available in Europe from the end of June.
With lead-free soldering and halogen-free printed circuit boards on all Toshiba hard disk drives, Toshiba is committed to the global environment.
