Designers join the 0.85in HDD revolution

The concept designs will be judged by a panel of executives from some of the world's leading IT and consumer brands, including leading design group Seymour Powell, based on their real-world applications and marketability.
A winning designer from both the design universities and design houses will have the opportunity to have their design considered for actual launch by one of Toshiba's manufacturing partners.
The miniature drive, just the size of a pound coin, is the first hard drive to achieve multigigabyte data storage at a sub-one-inch size.
It has been designed to accelerate innovation in small, powerful digital products by delivering high storage capacities essential for next generation multimedia applications.
"By combining high performance hard disk technology in such a small form factor, we are giving designers the perfect medium for unleashing their creativity", explained Martin Larsson, General Manager, Toshiba Europe Storage Device Division.
"They now have the necessary resource to create a device that can deliver the kind of unprecedented mobility and functionality that has never before been possible".
"As our lives become increasingly mobile, we are looking to new and emerging technologies to support our ever changing lifestyles", explained David Fisher, Competition Judge, Seymour Powell.
"This competition promises to uncover a tremendous level of innovation in terms of contemporary design and next generation mobile applications".
