Latest 2.5in HDDs cram in the bytes
Two new industry-leading HDDs are optimised for mobile and multimedia applications.
With the SATA interface, OEM designers can incorporate high capacity HDDs into highly mobile, small form factor consumer electronics that incorporate storage intensive multimedia applications such as mobile web browsing, video capture and audio playback.
The new drives also offer an average of 12% lower power consumption than that of previous models.
This is because SATA uses a reduced voltage signal line running at 0.25V.
Furthermore, with thinner data cables, the SATA interface allows for smaller form factors and chassis to be used.
Operating at a rotational speed of 5400rev/min, the drives offer a transfer rate of 150Mbyte/s - ideal for ideal for highly mobile workers who rely on the use of data intensive applications such as CRM and high speed web browsing.
"Consumers are demanding more than just increased capacity".
"Device performance and resilience have become just as important - particularly when on the move", explained Nick Spittle, Business Development Director, Toshiba Europe Storage Device Division.
"These drives deliver the necessary performance and storage capacities for the most intensive of mobile applications whilst further reinforcing Toshiba's market leadership in 2.5in HDDs".
