Free evaluation for HDL software
HDL Companion is an ideal environment for developing, understanding and maintaining complex HDL designs and facilitates re-use of internally and externally developed IP.
As a leading developer of HDL design solutions, Translogic is continuously looking for ways to improve and advance the HDL design process, and has now made its HDL Companion 1.0 product available for free evaluation.
HDL Companion is the ideal environment for developing, understanding and maintaining complex HDL designs and facilitates re-use of internally and externally developed IP.
HDL Companion is designed for the text based HDL designer.
HDL Companion extracts complex design structures from HDL sources, which may consist of third party IP, legacy code and newly developed code, in just seconds.
The resulting complete design decomposition offers information regarding numerous aspects of the design.
This information helps in understanding unknown code and maintaining complex HDL designs.
The embedded VHDL and Verilog parsers also support incomplete design code and code that contains syntax errors.
HDL Companion offers quick navigation through a design and shows relationships between use and definition.
It automates recurring tasks and features extensive search functionality.
HDL Companion is design flow and methodology independent.
HDL Companion's project driven approach allows users to include miscellaneous files (eg synthesis scripts, PDF documentation etc) in the environment, so that a complete project can be managed from one tool interface.
Its backend is TCL driven and interfaces to simulator and synthesis tools from major EDA vendors.
These tools can all be accessed from within HDL Companion.
HDL Companion includes a fully featured language sensitive text editor with a multiple document interface.
Enhanced editing features enable easier development of HDL code.
A console window shows all errors, warnings and messages and provides hot links to the source.
The console window is also a TCL interpreter so the user can execute any TCL command and write specific TCL scripts to generate reports or perform specific checks.
Willem Gruter, Translogic's VP of Engineering comments: "HDL Companion is an excellent addition to our product portfolio.
With our Ease product we serve the market for graphical HDL design entry.
Many VHDL and Verilog power users however are reluctant to adopt graphical HDL entry tools.
HDL Companion perfectly serves them in their needs to quickly understand HDL code obtained as IP or inherited from colleagues and also guides them whilst developing new code.
It also saves them from using expensive simulator licenses to perform these tasks".
The first release of HDL Companion supports VHDL, Verilog and mixed language designs for analysis and VHDL, Verilog, Java, SystemC, TCL, EDIF, and Perl for editing.
HDL Companion is available immediately as node-locked or floating licences on Windows or Linux based PCs as well as Unix based workstations from Sun and HP.
HDL Companion starts at just $995.00.
The free evaluation copy can be downloaded from the Translogic website.
