Ceramic capacitors balance cost and
performance
AVX's new OxiCap solid electrolytic ceramic capacitor series offers performance similar to tantalum at a price competitive with aluminium capacitors.
AVX's new OxiCap solid electrolytic ceramic capacitor series offers performance similar to tantalum at a price competitive with aluminium capacitors Based on niobium oxide ceramic material, new Oxicaps provide design engineers with a safe (nonburning, high resistance failure mode) and professional reliability level product, for applications where cost versus performance is the key requirement, as in consumer electronics

SM capacitor gives top high-frequency performance
TTI is offering the ground breaking AO-CAP range of aluminium-polymer surface-mount capacitors from Kemet.
Coax connectors run up to 50GHz
Covering a frequency range from DC to 50GHz, embracing over 30 different series and comprising hundreds of versions, Amphenol's coaxial connectors are available from TTI.
Oxicaps are also the ideal choice when high transient currents are a concern.
Packaged in standard EIA case sizes (A, B, C, D, E and V) and mounted using the same manufacturing process as tantalum capacitors, the Oxicap range consists of two series: the standard NOJ series, ranging from 10 to 1000uF; and the NOS which offers low ESR capability down to 100mF.
Ccapacitance tolerances are +/-20%; operating temperatures range from -55 to +105C (NOJ Series) and -55 to +125C (NOS Series).
Voltage rating options currently available are 4 and 6.3V DC, with 2.5V DC under development.
Suitable for filtering applications, these capacitors provide excellent electrical characteristics at rail voltages up to 5V.
This product also provides an excellent non-burn and lead free solution.
Because NBO is lower in density than tantalum, weight is also reduced.
OxiCap solves the problems of capacitance drop and DC leakage encountered with aluminium electrolytics.
A single OxiCap capacitor exhibits ESR values that normally require up to ten aluminium capacitors to achieve.
At the same time, these advanced surface mount capacitors match the capacitance values of tantalums without the propensity for cracking that can occur when high CV multilayer ceramics are used in similar conditions.
Another unique advantage is the voltage-derating characteristic: OxiCap, because of the high reliability and safe failure mode, is derated at only 20% compared to the standard 50% for other similar products.
The OxiCap Series is an ideal choice to fill the gap between higher-voltage tantalum caps and lower-cost aluminium electrolytics. Request a free brochure from TTI Europe ...
