Backplane connectors keep it cool
FCI's AirMax VS family now includes a low profile three-pair connector.
Available from TTI, FCI's AirMax VS family now includes a low profile three-pair connector Containing fewer pins per column than other AirMax connectors, the VS three-pair connector has a slot spacing of only 16.7mm, suiting it for use in blade servers and storage devices

Virtual shield boosts backplane connector speed
AirMax VS connectors feature an innovative design that uses air as a highly efficient dielectric and employs staggered contacts to produce "virtual shields".
Explains Geoff Breed, TTI's European Marketing Manager: "The low profile allows more cooling airflow, reducing the chances of overheating".
The AirMax VS system uses air as the dielectric between adjacent conductors, enabling high signal density while exhibiting the industry's lowest insertion loss and lowest crosstalk, all without the use of costly and space-consuming metal shields.
More, the unique design of AirMax VS's insert moulded leadframe assembly (IMLA) enables designers to freely mix differential pair signals, single ended signals and power signals within the same connector.
The AirMax VS is the only high speed backplane connector that allows for any allocation of signals within one connector, so customers' systems can grow from 2.5 to 25Gbit/s without any redesign of the basic platform.
AirMax VS 3-pair is available in 6 IMLA or 54 positions, 8 IMLA or 72 positions and 10 IMLA or 90 positions. Request a free brochure from TTI Europe ...
