The Rohde and Schwarz TS8916B has become the Industry standard for compliance test facilities and 7layersUK has the latest model, incorporating improvements that offer more reliable and more accurate results than many of the earlier systems still in use.
The Bluetooth test solution is due to be commissioned in mid May and will be available to clients from the 1st June 2001.
Supporting test equipment has been sourced from the leading manufacturers worldwide.
Announcing the opening of the laboratory, Laurence Richardson, Managing Director said, "We are able to offer a truly independent and comprehensive service to our customers that includes protocol testing as well as hardware and RF validation".
He continued, " We anticipate that our customers will use this facility throughout the development cycle, from initial product development through to final qualification".
7layersUK is based on the Melbourn Science Park in Cambridgeshire, at the very heart of third generation (3G) development in the UK and offers a full suite of tests for wireless development teams, terminal manufacturers and network operators throughout the world.
The test house is within walking distance of TTPCom's offices and for those TTPCom customers who need developmental support as they proceed through the compliance process, the potential for an immediate response, and the advantage of a reduced time to market are very clear.
The 7layersUK facility will be operating extended working hours and flexible shifts, which means that test projects can be carried out to suit customers' requirements.
Given that a standard suite of GSM compliance tests can take a minimum of 200 hours to complete, this is particularly beneficial to overseas customers who must relocate to the test facility for the duration of the tests; with extended operating hours, and automated testing their development time could effectively be halved.
The comprehensive facilities provided by 7layersUK mean that for the duration of their test project, customers are given exclusive use of a secure client room giving them access to a workbench, office desk, PC and private telephone, fax and document scanner.
The laboratory opens with a team of experienced test engineers and systems technicians.
