Intel has licensed GSM/GPRS technology from TTPCom for use with its GSM/GPRS baseband products.

Intel's GSM/GPRS baseband chips will also be compatible with TTPCom's industry-standard protocol software and will therefore enable Intel to reduce its time to market.

"This continues our strategy of supplying technology to the world's leading silicon companies", said Tony Milbourn, Managing Director of TTPCom.

"Our objective is to be the industry standard in GSM/GPRS and securing Intel alongside our other major silicon partners is another step in this direction".

"As a leading supplier for GSM and GPRS solutions, TTPCom is ideally placed to enable us to extend our range of wireless solutions", said Hans Geyer, Intel vice president and general manager of Intel's Cellular Communications Division.

"The next few years will see a huge increase in the number and variety of GSM and GPRS wireless devices; with Intel PCA and TTPCom's technology, Intel will be in a great position to take advantage of this growth.

TTPCom will help us meet our commitment to providing our customers with state-of-the-art technology and fast time-to-market".
