TTPCom aims to set new standards for mobile game quality when it unveils its Wireless Game Engine at ECTS, the interactive entertainment exhibition, in London in September.

The game quality obtained by TTPCom's developers has achieved a handheld console like experience on a mass-market mobile phone.

"With WGE, TTPCom is the first to offer a high quality but low cost gaming experience to mobile phone users", explained Gael Rosset, Head of Technology at TTPCom Denmark.

He continued, "With a footprint of just 40Kbyte, WGE is a major breakthrough in mobile gaming, supporting heavy graphical manipulations and multilayered graphics with chromakey transparency as well as optimised blit, zoom, rotate and scale functions".

The platform, which has already generated significant interest from handset manufacturers worldwide, will firstly demonstrate Hurricane Space Fighters, a classic "shoot 'em-up" type game where a space craft has to destroy all the enemy craft while flying over a space base.

The game involves several layers of graphics with complex animations.

Savannah Adventures is the second demonstration, where Fillip, the TTPCom gaming mascot, has to survive in a harsh environment crowded with enemies and find pieces of his crashed plane.

The programming interface for WGE will be put in the public domain, allowing every game developer to write games for the platform.

The implied quality and security risks of offering an open interface will be controlled by TTPCom's certification programme to ensure mobile phone integrity.

Wireless games demonstrations will be held on TTPCom's stand, number 1167, at ECTS, Excel Centre, London, 2-4th September 2001.
