TTPCom has developed a new platform it says will deliver an unrivalled gaming experience to all parties in the mobile phone community.
Announcing the achievements TTPCom's Sales and Marketing Director Richard Fry said: "This is an exciting time for GPRS/2.5G technology, as for the first time users of laptops, PDAs and other mobile terminals will truly have the freedom to work on the move.
Previously only mobile phones have had GPRS functionality and this increase in the availability of high speed wireless datacommunications will enable operators to generate additional revenue through the delivery of new services".
He continued: "TTPCom GPRS software has now been tested on over 60 networks worldwide and it is satisfying to see real products using our software shipping in Europe, North America and Asia".
Commenting on the developments, John Major, Chairman and CEO of Novatel Wireless said: "We will continue to innovate in key technology areas such as GPRS.
By 2005, a projected 84 million customers in the United States alone will want new wireless wide area services according to IDC.
As the rollout of 2.5G networks continues to gain momentum, working with TTPCom allows us to offer the most advanced GPRS solution available to help carriers grow their customer base".
Earlier in the year the Merlin G100 achieved an industry milestone by becoming the first wireless PC card modem to receive North American GSM/GPRS certification.
Slightly larger than a credit card, the Merlin G100 and G201 PC cards provide users with high speed wireless access to the Internet, email and corporate databases at speeds up to 53.6Kbit/s in GPRS coverage areas and 14.4Kbit/s via circuit-switched data in GSM coverage areas.
The Expedite G301 embedded modem, which has very low power consumption and the smallest form factor in the industry, will enable high-speed wireless data access and analogue voice communication anywhere worldwide where there is GSM/GPRS network coverage.
