LG makes 20 for TTP GPRS

TTPCom's software features in the LG-G510 GPRS handset, a clamshell phone recently launched by LG.
The LG-G510 has received design awards in both Germany and Korea and the company recently received an order to export 500,000 of the handsets to China, the world's largest mobile handset market.
Commenting on the announcement TTPCom's Managing Director Tony Milbourn said, "TTPCom has undertaken extensive interoperability testing with network operators worldwide to validate our GPRS software.
This policy has clear time to market benefits for our customers and, in the case of LG, has enabled them to become one of the first manufacturers to ship GPRS handsets to China".
He continued, "As the mobile communications industry consolidates, the world's device manufacturers are looking towards a small number of well respected suppliers for the latest in 2.5G and 3G technology.
TTPCom's GPRS software is the industry's de facto standard, with 20 licensees, and we aim to continue this success in 3G".
LG and TTPCom have been working together since December 2000.
LG licensed the full suite of TTPCom technology from Layer 1, through to the GSM/GPRS protocol stack and application layer including WAP and SIM toolkit.
The phone uses hardware from two of TTPCom's silicon partners - the AD20msp430 baseband chipset from Analog Devices and the HD155128TF (B2+) radio chipset from Hitachi.
TTPCom's GSM/GPRS software has been tested on over 60 networks worldwide and fully supports implementations up to and including multislot class 12 operation.
In addition to LG the GPRS partners previously announced by TTPCom include Research in Motion and Novatel Wireless, all three of which are shipping product commercially, and Toshiba which is developing a GPRS i-mode phone for launch later in the year.
