The new camera phone from Sharp Corp is built using TTPCom's GSM/GPRS platform.

The new camera phone from Sharp Corp is built using TTPCom's GSM/GPRS platform In addition to a built-in digital camera and colour screen the phone features a multimedia messaging service (MMS) which allows users to combine text messages with photos and sound clips and to send these instantly to other MMS compatible phones and to email addresses

Running on GPRS technology that provides an 'always on' connection, the phone features a WAP browser for internet access and supports Java downloads.

Sharp pioneered the development of mobile phones with integrated digital cameras in Japan, where it is the leading handset supplier to the major network operators.

In Japan picture messaging has stimulated significant demand for wireless data services.

Tony Milbourn, Managing Director of TTPCom said: "Sharp is entering the European GSM market for the first time with their flagship MMS and Java-enabled camera phone so we are very pleased that they have chosen to work with TTPCom.
