Platform provides an Edge for LG
handsets
LG Electronics, Analog Devices and TTPCom are developing a range of handsets based on ADI's and TTPCom's Edge (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution) technologies.

IP cores pass Bluetooth testing
Working with test house 7 layers UK Ltd, TTPCom has qualified its Bluetooth IP core solution to version 1.1 of the Bluetooth specification.
The phone is triband (850/1800/1900MHz) enabling users to roam seamlessly across Edge and GPRS networks worldwide.

Analog Devices' Blackfin SoftFone for Edge platform is the world's first chipset for the Edge standard.
ADI's SoftFone platform is completely RAM-based, which allows LGE to easily customise user features and options entirely in software for a wide range of phones, while incorporating breakthrough advancements in power consumption, cost and size.
In addition, the platform is based on ADI's Blackfin processor, offering best-in-class digital signal processing performance and low power consumption required for advanced cellular handsets.
In addition to the digital baseband processor, ADI will supply LG Electronics with a high-performance mixed-signal analogue baseband chip with integrated power management.
TTPCom's Edge software is fully integrated with the ADI platform and, with industry-leading datarates up to 216Kbit/s, it enables manufacturers to develop products that fully use Edge networks.
TTPCom's Edge software also builds on a proven GSM/GPRS base, and during 2003 has undergone extensive interoperability testing with leading infrastructure providers, test equipment vendors and wireless operators.

LG, Analog Devices and TTPCom have a longstanding relationship that began in December 2000.
This collaboration has progressed through successive generations of wireless technology, from GSM, through GPRS and now to Edge.
LG has experienced increasing success worldwide with its innovative, award-winning phone designs, the latest of which is the 7100 clamshell camera phone with rotating screen, is proving particularly popular throughout Europe and Asia.
The company is rapidly increasing sales of GSM phones in North and South America and in September 2003 signed a contract to supply phones to the Vodafone network in the UK, which will further strengthen its position.
