Tundra Semiconductor's Tsi109 host bridge is integrated into VadaTech's recently announced PMC710 Processor PCI Mezzanine Card module.

Tundra Semiconductor's Tsi109 host bridge will be integrated into VadaTech's recently announced PMC710 PrPMC (Processor PCI Mezzanine Card) module By enabling Vadatech to capitalise on the speed and efficiency of the embedded high-performance Freescale MPC7448 PowerPC processor, the Tsi109 helps ensure the PMC710 is the industry's fastest available PrPMC

The Tsi109's high-performance PCI-X bus and memory bus provides Vadatech's PrPMC with the best data throughput available, and its compliance with DDR2 memory means the PMC710 is able to provide all of the benefits that DDR2 offers over DDR technology; namely lower system cost, lower power dissipation and better signal integrity.

Compared with its rivals, the PMC710 offers a significant advantage in flexibility, with its ability to update the CPU while maintaining the rest of the subsystem I/O.

The PrPMC's modular form factor makes it very well-suited to a wide range of high-performance, power-sensitive applications.

"Our customers demand high-speed PMCs that minimise power consumption and reduce overall system costs", said Saeed Karamooz, President and CEO of VadaTech.

"Our PMC710, combined with Tundra's DDR2-compliant host bridge, delivers the fastest CPU performance while reducing overall system costs due to the Tsi109's low power consumption a huge benefit in demanding environments such as avionics and defence".

Without any need to change I/O software, the Tsi109 also provides Vadatech with a simple upgrade path to dual processor versions of the PMC.

The company will be integrating the Tsi109 into its dual CPU PrPMC, the PMC712, scheduled for release in June 2006.

The VadaTech PMC710 is currently shipping in prototype to lead customers.

Tundra's Tsi109 is available in both standard and lead-free packages for commercial and industrial temperature ranges.

Volume pricing for the Tsi109 is under US $75.

The Tsi109 host bridge sets industry benchmarks for performance and power management through an innovative feature set supported by world-class design support.

The host bridge supports a dual processor bus at 167MHz, which enables higher system compute performance.

The Tsi109's superior memory pipeline offers industry-leading memory bandwidth and an optimised PCI-X interface provides greater I/O-to-memory throughput.

In addition to 2.5W typical power dissipation, the Tsi109 supports DDR2 memory, which makes this host bridge the ideal choice for high-density, power-sensitive applications.

The combination of the Tsi109's features and reliability and Tundra's world-class support provides designers with the benefits of greater overall system performance, reduced system design complexity, better integration and superior power efficiency.
