PowerPC host bridges minimise CPU-memory latency
The Tundra Semiconductor Tsi85x family of PowerPC host bridges enables communications infrastructure equipment vendors to meet the demands of greater bandwidth and reduced board space.
"Tundra's Tsi110 is a new product which is truly market-driven in its design", said Daniel Hoste, President and Chief Executive Officer, Tundra.
"In response to market requirements the Tsi110 meets the specific performance, power and pricing needs of the consumer information appliance market".
Specifically designed to lower overall system cost, the Tsi110 offers an optimised performance/power solution when designed in conjunction with lower frequency, lower power PowerPC processors.
The integrated features of the Tsi110; an integrated clock generator, DDR2 SDRAM interface, and internal processor bus arbitor reduce the number of board components required and lower overall system cost and complexity.
The Tsi110 also supports PCI/X, gigabit Ethernet, and Flash interfaces.
The Tsi110 power management features support various power saving modes implemented on PowerPC processors as well as reduce active power by disabling unused ports and clocks, while the integrated clock generator saves power over discrete devices.
The Tsi110 supports DDR2 memory which consumes 50% less power that DDR a significant factor for minimising overall power consumption.
Designers can now optimise performance and power at an affordable cost.
The combination of the Tsi110's integrated features, low cost, and reliability make Tundra's Tsi110 the right choice for designs, where cost, performance and power are a priority.
In addition, the Tsi110 is backed by Tundra's world-class customer service and support and broad portfolio of design support tools, helping designers get products to market faster.
The Tsi110 is currently sampling in standard or lead-free RoHS compliant packaging for commercial temperatures and is expected to be in full production by spring 2007.
Volume pricing starts at US $45.
As PCI Express is not a key requirement for the targeted applications the Tsi110 has been redesigned to support PCI, PCI-X, DDR2 SDRAM, gigabit Ethernet and Flash interfaces.
