Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Apr 12, 2007

A leading specilast in system interconnect ICs has appointed a new Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Operations.

Tundra Semiconductor has appointed Dr Benny Chang to the position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and promoted Ed Vopni to Vice President of Operations.

As CTO, Dr Chang will play a key role in executing Tundra's business plan by leading the development of the company's technology and intellectual property roadmap.

As the company's champion for innovation, Dr Chang will provide technical vision that enables and anticipates the company's business strategy.

In addition to the CTO role, Dr Chang will continue in his current role as Vice President of Engineering.

Dr Chang has over 30 years experience in the integrated circuit industry, joining Tundra in 2000, following its acquisition of Quadic Systems , where he was Vice President of Research and Development.

Dr Chang received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics, his Masters of Science and his Ph.D in Solid State Electronics from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, United Kingdom.

"Benny's extensive experience in the semiconductor industry makes him the ideal candidate for the Chief Technology Officer role at Tundra", says Daniel Hoste, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Tundra.

"Benny brings strong leadership skills, technical expertise and passion for delivering value to customers".

As Vice President of Operations, Vopni will be responsible for overseeing supply chain operations, quality, program management and product engineering.

The Vice President of Operations role was previously part of the executive portfolio for which Daniel Hoste was responsible, as Vice President of Products.

Vopni previously held the position of Director of Engineering at Tundra, having joined the company in 2003.

Prior to joining Tundra, Vopni held progressively senior engineering roles at Gennum Corporation, Mitel, Nortel Networks and most recently at IceFyre Semiconductor.

Vopni's proven track record, including 15 years at Nortel, will add significant value and strength to Tundra's leadership team.

"Ed's 28 years of experience in this industry makes him an excellent choice to fulfill the Vice President of Operations position at Tundra", says Daniel Hoste.

"Ed will be a key driver in the deployment and execution of our new business strategy, leading delivery of all products, at the right time, and at the right cost".
