Industry's highest performance serial RapidIO switch features in system blades for defence and aerospace applications.

GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms has used the Tundra Tsi578 , the industry's highest performance serial RapidIO switch, for its DSP220, DSP230 and CRX800 system blades designed for defence and aerospace applications.

The Tundra Tsi578 features industry-leading performance and multiport configurability, providing the level of connectivity required to support a range of system architectures including VPX (also known as VITA 46) and VXS (also known as VITA 41, VMEbus Switched Serial).

The widespread adoption of the Tundra RapidIO switch portfolio across multiple vertical markets gives embedded computing vendors the confidence that Tundra switches represent the best choice for leading edge products.

Tundra's long-standing presence in the defence and aerospace markets with de facto standard VME bridges gives military and aerospace computing vendors the assurance that Tundra is the optimum company to enable their next-generation system blades.

"Tundra's long history of supporting the embedded space with excellent off-the-shelf bridge and RapidIO switch solutions, coupled with their expert technical support, makes them a supplier of choice for many of our high-performance applications", says Peter Cavill, General Manager for Military and Aerospace Products at GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms.

"Our long-term relationship with Tundra continues to support us in delivering leading-edge solutions for our customers".

The DSP220 VXS multiprocessor has been selected by several prestigious military programmes.

"GE Fanuc's system blades are a perfect example of the variety of technologies that our industry-leading RapidIO switches enable".

"These applications demonstrate how our customers are leveraging the value of our RapidIO interconnect solutions to bring scalability and throughput to their customers", says Tracy Richardson, Vice President Marketing, Tundra Semiconductor.
