The International Engineering Consortium (IEC) has selected TI's IP quality management Piqua technology as the winner of its annual InfoVision Award.
The nonprofit organisation delivers this prestigious award to honour technologies, applications, products, advances and services judged to be the most unique and beneficial to the telecommunications industry.
Winners of the IEC InfoVision Award were announced last week at the IEC's Broadband World Forum in Hong Kong.
TI's Piqua technology, announced in January, is a revolutionary new system of IP quality management tools that enables service providers and enterprise IT managers to deliver an exceptional level of quality to their consumer and business subscribers moving to Internet-based services, such as voice over IP, video over IP, IPTV and Internet-based music services.
As a leading provider of digital signal processors (DSPs) and embedded software solutions for IP-based communications equipment, TI is in a unique position to enable manufacturers to deliver a wide range of products - from residential gateways and IP phones to communications infrastructure - that effectively manage these IP services.
It was named the best new product for Network and Services Management and Operations at the show.
"TI has worked closely with service providers to identify the features and functions that are most important to them for improving their customers' quality of experience and determined that our Piqua technology incorporates the best tools to meet this goal", said Greg Jones, General Manager of TI's Service Provider Strategic Marketing business.
"We are honoured that the IEC has recognised our contributions to improving IP quality of service with this InfoVision Award for Piqua".
Entries from telecommunications companies were judged based on the value of service or technology in solving recognised technology problems, meeting network requirements, optimising service and performance and/or enhancing customer service.
Additional criteria for consideration included the quality of innovation, originality and vision, contribution to positive industry growth and enhanced end-user quality of experience.
