Samsung is using TI's 1394 technology for HANA home entertainment networking products such as set-top-boxes, digital televisions, TV nodes and digital video recorders.
Samsung is using TI's 1394 technology for High-Definition Audio-Video Network Alliance (HANA) home entertainment networking products such as set-top-boxes (STB), digital televisions, TV nodes and digital video recorders (DVRs).
"TI has a proven history in 1394 service development and delivery", said Dr Heemin Kwon, Samsung Executive Vice President.
"We utilise TI's industry-leading 1394 technology for our suite of home networking products to ensure our customers can easily stream protected HD content within the living room cluster and throughout the home".
TI's recognised 1394b portfolio includes the TSB41BA3 and TSB81BA3 PHY devices.
TI's chipsets enable high-speed audio, video and data connections (up to 400Mbit/s) across longer cable lengths (up to 100m), using a variety of cable media (STP, Cat5, POF, GOF) for home networking applications.
In addition, content protection is enabled to ensure a trusted home network.
TI and Samsung are both board members of HANA, a cross-industry organisation comprising content providers, service providers, CE manufacturers, software and silicon providers dedicated to offering standards-based, end-to-end solutions for the ultimate HD experience.
Sharing a vision of the future, TI, Samsung and other HANA member companies help ensure device interoperability.
"Samsung and TI have a long history of working together to enable 1394 in personal computers and consumer electronics".
"We are pleased to be selected as a preferred supplier for Samsung's silicon needs", said Zephra Freeman, Worldwide Home Networking and 1394 Business Development Manager at TI.
"TI works closely with all of our customers to ensure we are developing the right silicon products at the right time and at competitive price points".
"TI is also investing efforts with Samsung to develop 1394 user scenarios which will provide value-added services to service providers and consumers".
Not only does TI lead in 1394 devices, but it retains the industry's largest portfolio of interface solutions and provides the right products to solve design problems in customers' applications.
TI sees continued demand for interface in every region and in every leading market.
The company continues to develop diverse, leading-edge, high-performance products to meet demand, and empower customers to differentiate their products and win in their markets.
