Low-glitch DACs reject transients

The DAC8564/65 (16bit) provides +/-0.5LSB differential nonlinearity (DNL) and +/-4LSB integral nonlinearity (INL), which contribute to the excellent accuracy of the devices.
The DAC8164/65 (14bit) and DAC7564/65 (12bit) offer a relative accuracy of +/-1LSB.
Very low power consumption (2.9mW at 3V) and a power down feature (1.3uA at 5V) extend battery life in portable applications.
The DAC8564 and DAC8565 build on TI's recently released DAC8560 and DAC855x series which offer breakthrough performance while minimising code-to-code output transient voltages (glitch).
The low-glitch performance solves the common DAC problem of unwanted transient voltages which cause ringing in closed-loop systems and create harmonic distortion during waveform generation.
Wider bandwidth signals are supported by a fast settling time of 10us to +/-0.003% of full-scale range.
Additional features include power-on-reset (POR) to zero output voltage or programmable POR to either zero or mid-scale.
This allows support of either binary or two's-complement binary output data formats.
The DACs are also offered with a serial SPI interface.
The devices are part of TI's new pin-compatible family of low-voltage, single-supply ultra-low-glitch DACs with a precision internal reference.
Each device operates over an extended temperature range of -40 to +105C and a wide power supply range of 2.7 to 5.5V.
The DAC8564 and DAC8565 are available now in standard-footprint TSSOP-16 packages and are priced at US $14.10 each in 100-piece quantities (suggested resale pricing).
The 14 and 12bit devices will be available in Q1 2008.
The 14bit DAC8164 and DAC8165 will be priced at US $11.60 each in 100-piece quantities and the 12bit DAC7564 and DAC7565 will be priced at US $7.25 each in 100-piece quantities.
