High-speed single-chip device provides FireWire interface for ExpressCards, PC addon cards and motherboards or docking stations.

Billed as the fastest 1394b controller on the market today, the new TI XIO2213A is a flexible PCI Express to 1394b open host controller The packet throughput exceeds 87Mbyte/s, making it a high-speed one-chip solution for 1394b for ExpressCards, PC addon cards and motherboards or docking stations

The XIO2213A provides interoperability by supporting three bilingual 1394 A/B cable ports at 100, 200, 400 and 800 Mbit/s.

The device's internal dedicated PCIbus operates at 32bit, 66MHz and includes a pre-fetch agent to optimise PCIe packets for maximum 1394 performance.

The translation bridge is fully compliant with the PCI Express Base Specification and supports the standard PCI-to-PCI bridge programming model.

Eight 3.3V general-purpose inputs and outputs allow for further system control and customisation.

The XIO2213A is available now in a 167-ball MicroStar BGA package.

Suggested resale pricing in 1000-unit quantities is US $8.70.

Additionally, TI has partnered with Unibrain to provide complementary 1394b drivers for TI's 1394b customers.
