connectors
A new family of coax connectors, specifically designed to meet the price-performance requirements of commercial RF applications has been announced by Tyco Electronics.
A new family of coax connectors, specifically designed to meet the price-performance requirements of commercial RF applications in sectors such as broadcast, data networking, industrial electronics and instrumentation has been announced by Tyco Electronics Carrying the well-known Greenpar brand, which is now re-emerging under Tyco Electronics, the products are manufactured using the same high-quality base materials to satisfy the performance criteria of these sectors without the price premium often associated with such products

Filtered inlets handle more power
IEC inlet filter features a two-stage construction, HF screening and high-quality components, making it ideal for noise attenuation up to 1GHz.
RF relays handle higher frequencies
Latest additions to the range are designed for 50 or 75ohm impedance applications and a frequency range of 200MHz to 6GHz.
Initially comprising around 350 items, and eventually up to 500, the Greenpar range has been re-introduced to meet an emerging gap in the market, namely the lack of low-cost connectors able to deliver the electrical and mechanical performance required for increasingly high-performance applications, such as set top boxes, in the commercial sector.
Such applications demand high electrical performance parameters that include EMI/RFI screening, contact integrity, and insertion loss, as well as a robust mechanical construction to withstand a high number of mating-cycles.
However, products currently on the market, which meet these requirements, do not always meet the price-performance requirement of OEMs and other users.

Fourth-generation telecomms relay range now includes high-sensitivity, ultrasensitive, high-isolation and high-current versions.
The new Greenpar family, however, will address these cost and quality issues.
Available at volume prices consistent with the expectations of these sectors, all products in the range will feature brass housings, teflon insulation, silicon rubber gaskets and copper alloy contacts.
Plating styles will include silver, nickel and gold.
Initially consisting of products such as BNC, TNC, SMB, SMC, MCX, N-type, UHF and along with Inter Series Adapters the range will be later extended to include others such as and Type-F and FME types.
Standard tooling can be used.
"This is a significant step forward for the market", comments Ian McFadyen, Industry Manager of Tyco Electronics' Distribution Division, "as the increasing frequency of typical applications in the commercial sector has led to a rapidly growing demand for high quality connectors.
Until now, however, the only way users could meet their price requirements was to use connectors not designed - either mechanically or electrically - to deliver the performance they need.
The use of such products often leads to substandard performance or early failure.
Our new range will carry the quality stamp of Tyco's familiar Greenpar brand of a few years ago, with a competitive price tag".
The product is available now through the established Tyco Electronics distribution channels. Request a free brochure from Tyco Electronics UK ...
