Featuring environmentally friendly cadmium-free contacts, Schrack PB miniature power relays from Tyco Electronics target cost-sensitive applications.

Featuring environmentally friendly cadmium-free contacts, Schrack PB miniature power relays from Tyco Electronics target cost-sensitive applications such as those in white goods, small home appliances, heating temperature controllers and vending machines.

Featuring a construction that is optimised for high-volume, low-cost requirements, the relays have been designed to cater for similar applications in the widely used "sugar cube" type format.

However, Schrack PB relays only need a PCB area of 225mm2, compared to the area requirements of the "sugar cube" type relays of approximately 370mm2, being 15 x 15mm square and 20mm tall.

Configured with a single 1 C/O (normally closed or open) or 1 N/O (normally open) contact, these relays feature creepage and clearance to VDE 0435 and VDE 0700.

Contact ratings are 10A N/O and 3A N/C, with a 15A inrush capability.

Maximum switching voltage is 250VA or 100V DC while maximum breaking AC capacity comes in at 2500VA.

Coil versions available are 6, 12 and 24V DC.

Normal coil power is 360mW.

A Class F coil is also available.

Other features include - over 5 million operations mechanical life rating, operating and release times of 20ms, bounce time of 15ms, and dielectric strength of 2kV RMS between coil and contacts and 1kV RMS between open contacts.

Operating over -20 to +85C, Schrack PB relays are rated for protection category IP 54 and weigh a mere 5g.

Designed to withstand the trials and tribulations of daily usage, the relays withstand vibration of over 4g over 30 to 400Hz and deliver a shock resistance of over 30g.
