A new coaxial connector solution for board-to-board RF connections from Tyco Electronics makes using two or even three part, as is the case in conventional board-to-board coaxial systems, a thing of the past.

Consequently, costs and assembly time in interconnection design can now be significantly reduced.

This revolutionary system comprises a single-piece connector with a spring loaded contact and is initially available in three different lengths for board to board distances of 6.65, 10 and 14mm.

One side of the connector is soldered onto the board's surface while the mating face directly contacts the opposite board.

The result is a high-quality board-to-board interconnect with minimal piece parts and a lower costs.

Tyco Electronics' coaxial connector system features an operating temperature range of -40 to +125C, an impedance of 50ohm and can be operated effectively at frequencies of up to 4GHz.

Return loss is specified as a minimum -20dB at frequencies up to 2.1GHz.

Tolerance against axial misalignments from nominal boards stacking heights for the 10 and 14mm versions is specified to +/-1.0 and +/-0.4mm, respectively, for the 6.65mm version.

Tolerance against radial misalignment is specified to +/-0.8mm from centreline in any direction for all versions.

PCB target pads are either tin or gold plated.
