Limp cable is easier to manoeuvre
A new precision interconnect cable offers reduced size, light weight and increased flexibility for ultrasound applications.
To address the concerns of a large proportion of sonographers who report work related injuries in their hands and fingers, Tyco Electronics has designed a new precision interconnect cable that offers reduced size, light weight and increased flexibility for ultrasound applications.
Comfort cable's limpness offers less resistance to movement, making it easy to manoeuvre in any direction to help alleviate operator discomfort.
This latest innovation in cable technology has increased cable flexibility 23% over the previous generation of cable, already known for its flexibility and outstanding flex-life.
In addition to its ergonomic benefits, Comfort cable delivers clear, detailed ultrasound images using true coax in acoustic applications where cross talk, bandwidth and attenuation affect performance.
In flex-life tests, Comfort cable (with appropriate strain reliefs in place) outperforms traditional concentric cable, with the average subassembly exceeding a million cycles.
A complete battery of design qualification tests validates Comfort cable's mechanical, electrical and environmental (including disinfection solutions) characteristics.
The unique cable construction minimises capacitance variation and supports improved contrast resolution especially at higher frequencies.
Comfort cable is compatible with the Precision Interconnect Modulus3 pre-engineered platform, which allows the OEM to forecast assemblies at the generic level and order finished assemblies based on current product mix requirements.
This provides maximum flexibility with very short lead times, allowing customers to reduce the need for inventory and be more responsive to changes in demand.
