Precision chip resistors shrink and grow

The Holsworthy RN73 series of ultraprecision chip resistors has been extended to offer smaller sizes and greater resistance value ranges.

The Holsworthy RN73 series of ultraprecision chip resistors from Tyco Electronics has been extended to offer smaller sizes and greater resistance value ranges An 0402 case size has been introduced to the RN73 series with values that range in the E96 grid from 47R to 100K at 0.1% tolerance and 10ppm TCR

An extended value range is under development.

The RN73 0805 case size, standard range has also been extended to include values from 5R11 to 470K in the E96 grid and the RN73 0603 standard range now includes values from 10R to 270K in the E96 grid.

Both standard ranges offer 10ppm TCR and tolerances of 0.1%.

Based on nichrome thin film technology, the devices are produced with three sputtered layers of resistive metal film.

This gives temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) values down to 5ppm/C and resistor tolerances to 0.1%.

Very stable high frequency performance is achieved, with operation over the -55 to +125C temperature range.

Load derating occurs over 70C.

Accurate and uniform physical dimensions facilitate automatic placement of the RN73 devices.

Tyco Electronics offers a wide range of pack quantities, ranging from 250 piece cut strip to 1000, 5000 and 10000 piece tape on reels, making the RN73 series the flexible fixed precision SMD chip resistor. Request a free brochure from Tyco Electronics UK ...
