The HDMI (high-definition multimedia interface) connector is ideal for use in products such as digital television, set-top boxes, DVD players and other audiovisual devices.

A next generation interface for consumer electronics products from Tyco Electronics, the HDMI (high-definition multimedia interface) connector is ideal for use in products such as digital television, set-top boxes, DVD players and other audiovisual devices.

The basis for HDMI is high bandwidth digital content protection (HDCP) and the core technology of the Digital Visual Interface (DVI).

HDMI supports standard, enhanced, or high-definition video, plus multichannel audio on a single cable.

The HDMI connector is a user friendly connector that replaces existing separate audio and digital cabling with one assembly and features full shielding for ESD protection, 19 contact positions and 5Gbit/s bandwidth to support video and multichannel audio.

Further, the connector contains no hazardous substances such as lead and is fully compatible with lead-free soldering and assembly processes.

With a high level of durability, HDMI connectors are rated to 10,000 mating cycles.

They are available with or without panel flange and operate over -55 to +105C.

Contact resistance is low at 30mohm maximum and rated voltage and current are 40V AC maximum and 0.5A minimum, respectively.
