Contacts cut insertion force

The E-Spring Contact is an electrical contact claimed to combine low cost, easy insertion and a robust connection.

Tyco Electronics is now offering the E-Spring Contact electrical contact, which provides low cost, easy insertion and a robust connection Ideal for vending machines and household appliances (such as washing machines, refrigerators and small appliances), the E-Spring Contact electrical contact can be used in conjunction with 6.35 x 0.8mm tabs

Featuring a swinging-spring, the E-Spring Contact electrical contact supports very easy insertion, requiring only 50% of the effort required to insert Tyco Electronics' Faston terminals.

The insertion forces appear in only a small portion of the insertion trajectory.

A tap-stop has been included, which signals the end of the insertion process.

The geometry of the E-Spring Contact electrical contact has been designed to endure overstress, pullings from the cable and nonaligned insertions.

It also provides favourable current versus temperature performance characteristics.

At present, the E-Spring Contact electrical contact can be used with tab thicknesses of 0.8mm and material thicknesses of 0.4mm.

E-Spring Contact electrical contacts are available to cater for different wire thickness ranges, including 0.3 to 0.8, 0.5 to 1.5, and 1mm to 2.5mm.

The product line also supports different insulation diameters, including 2.3 to 3.3 and 3mm to 4.3mm.

The E-Spring Contact electrical contact is available in different contact materials, including brass, tin-plated brass and nickel-plated steel.

The product uses a polyimide insulation sleeve and a number of different variants of this material are available (ie according to IEC/EN60335-1 IV Ed).

The E-Spring Contact electrical contact range of contacts is UL-approved and complies with CEI768/EN61210/DIN46449. Request a free brochure from Tyco Electronics UK ...
