Sanmina Dublin, the leading contract manufacturer to the electronics manufacturing services market, has invested in advanced servoelectric press-fit technology from ASG, part of the Tyco Electronics group of companies.

The investment will enable Sanmina to provide its customers with previously unsurpassed levels of service in terms of quality and flexibility.

After an extensive evaluation of the systems currently available, it became clear to Sanmina Dublin that ASG met all their needs.

Not only did ASG's range out-perform its rivals during evaluations, but it also received endorsements from sources vital to Sanmina Dublin's ongoing success - its customers.

Sanmina's Senior Process Engineer, Sean Griffin explains, "While evaluating potential new systems, we spoke to many of our customers and were consistently encouraged to incorporate the ASG range into our operation".

Sanmina Dublin invested in BMEP-5T presses initially, bringing immediate benefits to the company's level of competitiveness and backplane assembly capabilities.

The solderless bench top presses featuring automatic press stroke, incorporate an "H" frame design to minimise deflection, and can be moved manually between connectors.

With a maximum available force of 5t, the system can accommodate PCBs up to 18 x 24in and are built around the latest technology including Pentium PC computer, Windows software and optional 15in SVGA touch screen.

Griffin continues, "The new presses have given us superb functionality and significant advantages for our customers, both in terms of a reduction in lead times and increased quality and flexibility".

Already Sanmina Dublin is considering the viability of implementing further ASG presses specifically for connector pressing.

"We have been delighted with the performance levels of the BMEP-5T presses and we are now evaluating further products within the ASG range for more specific elements of our operation", concludes Griffin.

"We have confidence in ASG, now and for our continuing growth in the future".
