Insertion machine sets standard in versatility

A new, fully automatic insertion machine, believed to be the quickest machine of its type on the market, is now available from Tyco Electronics.

Compatible with an extensive range of Tyco Electronics terminals - as well as terminals from many other suppliers - the versatile, floor-standing P350 device has a maximum insertion rate of 5 cycles per second at a pitch of 5.08mm, depending on terminal type.

Combining high productivity with unrivalled flexibility, the user-friendly P350 includes a state-of-the-art touch screen operator interface and an x-y table.

Featuring quick and simple programming, the P350 is designed to deliver a significant increase in output through the insertion of additional pins.

For example, by inserting two 0.63mm pins per cycle, output is doubled.

Equipped with three insertion heads as standard, mounted onto an auto-changeover unit, the P350 includes PCB transfer belts for easy incorporation into automatic production lines, and a built-in insertion force monitoring system providing 100% pin quality assessment.

Heads can be easily converted for a wide range of terminals, through an easy-fit, terminal specific conversion kit, while all heads feature rotary insertion fingers to allow insertion of terminals at different angles, without necessitating board rotation.

Conversion kits are available for an extensive range of Tyco Electronics' Action pin terminals including Press-Fit pins and tabs, AMPMODU sockets, Junior Timer with Action pin, flat solder tabs, Action pin F-post and E-O-N contacts.

Solder contacts are available as standard.

Tooling is also available for non-Tyco Electronics products.
