Connectors meet PICMG standards
Tyco Electronics supports AdvancedTCA (ATCA), AdvancedMC (AMC) and MicroTCA (uTCA) PICMG standards.
Tyco Electronics supports AdvancedTCA (ATCA), AdvancedMC (AMC) and MicroTCA (uTCA) PICMG standards with a full complement of products to meet the wide array of applications and markets where these standard configurations will be used These products include both the fully compliant interconnects that are specified in the PICMG standards, as well as additional connectors that product designers need to customise their solutions for their specific markets

Card edge connector meets PCI Express needs
Tyco Electronics has designed a 1mm centreline card edge connector to meet the high performance point-to-point full duplex I/O bus standard for PCI Express architecture.
For the ATCA standard, Tyco Electronics supplies the Zone 1 Z1 Power connector, the Zone 2 Z-Pack HM-Zd high speed connector, and offers many different options for Zone 3 power and high speed signal connectors to midplanes, rear transition modules (RTM), or cable assemblies.
Tyco Electronics also provides the guide/keying modules required for front board, backplane, midplane, and RTM card alignment and keying.
For AMC standards, Tyco Electronics provides both the right angle and vertical card edge connectors that are required for ATCA and uTCA applications.

Cable mounted plugs come onboard
A new cable-mounted plug is based on the popular Multi-Beam XL line of modular power/signal connectors.
The uTCA standard uses Tyco Electronics' Minipak HD two-piece connector for power and the Vertical AMC card edge connector for high speed connections to the backplane.
For input/output (I/O) connectors on the individual blades in the ATCA and uTCA chassis, Tyco Electronics offers a full range of solutions including: low profile RJ45 Mod Jacks (fits in a half height card face), both single position and ganged/stacked versions; complete solutions for SFP, XFP, X2, and DWDM pluggable module connectors, cages and guide rails, in various single position and ganged/stacked versions; USB connectors; connectors to the PCIe standard; connectors to the Infiniband standard; connectors to the Mini Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) and Serial ATA (SATA) standards; slim I/O connectors; MRJ21 connectors, which provides the equivalent of six 1GE Base-T connections in a single connector; and MPO, LC and SC optical connectors.
Tyco Electronics' I/O connectors allow the engineer to design the optimal solution of port density and through-put capacity for each blade.
Many of these I/O connectors incorporate advanced EMI gaskets and integrated magnetics.
For memory applications, Tyco Electronics has developed a special low profile DDR2 DIMM socket for main memory applications on ATCA blades.
This connector sockets Micron Technology's VLP (very low profile) module, which is designed to meet the ATCA height limitations.
The connector is optimised to allow maximum air flow to reach the memory module for effective cooling.
Special width and height SODIMM sockets are also available to fit on AMC cards and allow for stacking.
Tyco Electronics offers many other solutions that are applicable to ATCA, AMC and uTCA designs including: thermal management products and services; DC to DC convertor modules; other types of mezzanine connectors; cable connectors and assemblies; sockets for microprocessors and memory applications; and fibre optic backplane connections such as Lightray MPX interconnects.
