Handheld visual fault locator is a rugged and affordable solution for identifying breaks and bending in optical fibres and cabling.

Tyco Electronics has developed a handheld visual fault locator (VFL) that provides a rugged and affordable solution for identifying breaks and bending in optical fibres and cabling Its powerful red 650nm laser provides the ability to locate damaged, broken, or tightly bent fibres that cause undesirable attenuation in systems

The VFL cable jacket will glow red at the location of the fault.

The flash button allows the user to toggle between continuous or pulsed mode.

The compact, rugged, and balanced design is based on the popular harsh environment fibre optic connector.

A single AA style battery is sufficient for more than 30 hours of continuous use and the soft-side protective case with belt loop provides convenient and protective storage.

"Tyco Electronics' VFL provides a cost-effective solution for locating damaged optical fibres, tracing fibre paths, identifying termination errors and for use in continuity testing", comments Dennis Hess, Product Manager.

"This product reflects our commitment to high quality equipment in an affordable and portable package".
