Single-pole quick-connect/disconnect replacements for lug connections allow a reliable and safe connection, as well as better serviceability than bolt-fitted lugs.

Ease of use and high reliability are paramount in high-current telecomms applications, and Tyco Electronics reckons its new Rapid Lock busbar connectors meet these strict requirements.

These single-pole quick-connect/disconnect replacements for lug connections allow a reliable and safe connection, as well as better serviceability than bolt-fitted lugs.

"By replacing power lugs secured with nuts and bolts, Tyco Electronics' Rapid Lock connectors offer an extremely secure, low loss interconnect mechanism freeing the power distribution system from the risk of loose connections, which can cause arching and, in certain cases, fire", comments Ben MacIntyre, Director, Tyco Electronics' power interconnects in Europe.

"A locking feature is provided on the pins for protection against accidental unlatching of the cable".

Service in the field also becomes easy and safe because there are no nuts or washers to work loose in the equipment.

The Rapid Lock connector is available with black insulator caps as standard, but colour caps are available to differentiate polarity.

Tyco Electronics' Rapid Lock connectors incorporate Crown Band contact technology, which features multiple points of contact and high conductivity copper alloys.

This provides a low loss stable connection with excellent mechanical and electrical performance.

Ratings from 50 to 300A are available depending on wire gauge and application.
