Cable assemblies are first in the market to be approved to DisplayPort Specification Version 1.1a.

Tyco Electronics has achieved full certification on its cable assemblies as defined in DisplayPort Specification Version 1.1a "We are pleased to be the first cable assembly manufacturer to achieve this milestone", comments Kent Kasuya, Business Development Manager for Tyco Electronics Asia

Certification was completed by passing a thorough battery of tests performed by an independent VESA authorised test centre.

The tests include evaluating such parameters as intra-pair skew, far end noise, near end noise, bulk cable and connector impedance, insertion loss and return loss - all with the intent of providing a convenient, user-friendly experience while maintaining the performance and full interoperability in the realm of high definition (HD) video transmission.

The certified cable assemblies are based on consistent transmission of digital data through one, two or four main link lanes at the reduced bitrate of 1.62Gbit/s per lane or high bitrate of 2.7Gbit/s per lane.

This yields excellent HD quality video for both computer and consumer applications.

"When choosing components for your DisplayPort system, look for the VESA DisplayPort certified logo and Tyco Electronics' name on the package to ensure you have a 100% DisplayPort standard compliant and certified cable solution", says Kasuya.
