New dimensions simplify implementation
Universal Instruments has simplified implementation of its Dimensions line management tools with a radically new configuration, a simplified user interface and a roadmap of future automatic features.
An offline version of Dimensions Data Management is also included, which adds full upload and download capability for HSP4797 component libraries.
DPO's new CAD import capability now supports 15 different CAD formats, allowing designs compiled using any of the most popular CAD packages to be directly imported automatically.
The CAD view option allows the user to review the imported CAD drawing and has the capability to display the components of a board in different views.

Support aids flexible manufacturing
Energy management specialist SatCon Technology has worked with Universal Instruments to complete the integration of a new automated assembly system for future generations of its products.
DPO also now ships with the Sanyo UCT53/52 simulator and optimiser for Universal HSP4797 and HSP4796 machines, which delivers enhanced performance and ensures users automatically receive new software updates from Sanyo as soon as they are released.
The latest DPO release will also include updated simulator support for Universal GSM platforms, as the company continues to evolve its own simulators as part of its ongoing DPO development program.
DPO provides balancing, optimisation, and program generation for Universal surface mount assembly lines.
DPO software provides one point of data entry, a common interface across machine types, and a simple and repeatable process to import CAD and bill of material information required to generate production and setup data for one or more assembly lines.
Multithreaded processing for multiple products and Universal machine types allows users to quickly create programs and optimise schedules for lines containing any combination of GSM platforms or HSP machines, or lines containing a single machine.
DPO is part of the modular Dimensions manufacturing automation software suite, which includes Dimensions Manufacturing Monitoring, Dimensions Logistics Module, and Dimensions Data Management.
Dimensions modules allow users to monitor, store, interpret and disseminate machine level, line level and factory level management data, and make real time factory floor data available to MES packages as well as enterprise level software systems such as ERP.
The Dimensions concept allows manufacturers to seamlessly combine modules to improve line productivity and the day-to-day work of managing production performance.
