Universal Instruments' HSP4797L turret-style chip shooter has scooped two separate prestigious industry awards - both in the premium pick and place category.

The HSP secured top prize in the placement equipment category at the 12th annual excellence in electronics packaging and production awards sponsored by EP and P.

Editorial Director Greg Reed presented the award on the publication's booth at Apex on 31st March.

In addition, the HSP also seized first place in the SMT vision awards sponsored by SMT Magazine.

The award ceremony hosted by SMT also took place at the Apex show.

Publisher John Bubello presented the award.

All entrants to both sets of awards are scrutinised and judged by separate panels of independent industry and technology experts.

"I am delighted that independent bodies of expertise recognise the capability and value of the HSP machine", says an elated Karen Moore-Watts, Director Global Marketing for Universal Instruments.

"It reflects the machine's best-in-class status and also serves to acknowledge the efforts of those individuals at Universal whose unseen dedication is behind the success of the HSP chip shooter.

These awards are for them", she adds.

Greg Reed, Editorial Director of EP and P commented: "The number and quality of this year's entrants was phenomenal - a reflection of industry commitment to new product introductions even during uncertain business conditions".
