Energy management specialist SatCon Technology has worked with Universal Instruments to complete the integration of a new automated assembly system for future generations of its products.
Similarly, Universal will use the advanced process facilities of the Heraeus service centres to train its own customers.
The move is part of a technology co-operation and resource sharing agreement announced in October by Universal Instruments and the SMT Materials business unit of Heraeus.
Under the agreement, the two companies will also share technology trends, and will present joint marketing activities including technology days, open house events and exhibitions.
The agreement also involves the Universal Instruments SMT Lab at Binghamton.
Brad Bennett, the newly appointed Director of European Operation for Universal Instruments, said: "Both Universal and Heraeus are now able to enhance customer support services by increasing training resources at conveniently located centres, testing new products and processes on market-leading production equipment, and by sharing technical expertise and strategic marketing knowledge".
Gerhard Kirchner, Global Business Unit Manager for Heraeus SMT Materials, added: "The objective of this agreement is to help customers understand and practice new techniques as we bring advanced materials, technologies and processes to market faster and at lower cost.
Universal has the best equipment and technical resources to allow us to deliver these benefits, including a robust service and support infrastructure in Germany and China".
The Universal equipment will be installed at the Heraeus service centres in Hanau, Germany and Suzhou, China.
Universal will also train Heraeus technical staff at each location to use its machines.
