SmartTec is a recently formed enterprise supplying electronic systems to industry in Germany and Austria.
The three company founders bring extensive market and technology experience to the business and have already secured distribution agreements with market-leading electronics vendors in the dispensing, materials and inspection sectors.
The new SmartTec organisation will expand the range of support services currently offered by Universal, including application and maintenance support for AdVantis and Genesis machines.
In addition, the distribution agreement will locate support staff closer to customers in the German speaking territories.
SmartTec already boasts an enviable list of blue chip customers in all sectors of the electronics market including automotive, telecomms, industrial, medical, consumer and defence.
An impressive range of small and medium size customers who are "ideal candidates for Universal's new AdVantis platform" complements these, claims Uwe Giesler, one of SmartTec's founders.
"We will work closely with SmartTec to ensure we deliver increased customer value in all our collaborative sales and support initiatives", says Brad Bennett, Universal Instruments' new Director of European Operations.
