Universal Instruments and Selettra have extended their distribution partnership in the Italian electronics market.

Universal Instruments and Selettra have extended their distribution partnership in the Italian electronics market.

Selettra and Universal's proven relationship has so far been based around the AdVantis platform.

However, having successfully established AdVantis in Italy, the companies are now developing this winning relationship to incorporate all elements of the Universal product portfolio.

Effective from 1st July, the terms of the extended partnership mean that Universal will continue to provide service and support for the expanding customer base out of its Arese offices, and Selettra will use its sales expertise to promote the widened product range.

The contract will continue to build on the success of the mid-range AdVantis platform, now renowned for pioneering the inclusion of Universal's product reliability and technical expertise within a platform directly targeted at entry-level and mid-range markets.

However, recent developments mean that Selettra will now be able to present its Italian customers with other Universal products such as the Genesis platform.

Genesis allows for the development of highly flexible and modular SMT lines, delivering high utilisation for top and bottom side applications and high speed placement of large components.

Other Universal platforms to feature in the new Selettra offering will include radial and axial Generation 8 insertion machines for modern through-hole assembly and the Quadris high volume placement solution, specifically developed to meet the requirements of the high-speed, high-volume chip placement market.

In addition, the HSP solution reliably facilitates the expert assembly of high volumes of standard products, in addition to larger panels.

One of the more striking additions to Selettra's Universal offering will ultimately be the Optima Plus total productivity solution.

With Optima Plus, Universal presents a full line of best-in-class solutions, offering limitless configuration choice, equipment capability and support initiatives.

In essence, this solution will provide Italian electronics manufacturers with the distinct performance advantage associated with Universal expertise, tailored to the specific needs of diverse production environments.

As a consequence, the extended Selettra-Universal contract looks set to build on the existing success of this highly effective relationship for the exclusive benefit of the Italian electronics market.

Best-in-class solutions, unparalleled industry knowledge and proven technical expertise form a sound basis for continued market advantage.
