Signalling software leads in market survey

An Ulticom product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Jun 21, 2006

Ulticom's Signalware product has achieved global market leadership according to Venture Data Corp.

At the CommunicAsia trade show in Singapore, Ulticom announced that its Signalware product has achieved global market leadership according to Venture Data Corp (VDC), an independent technology market research and strategy firm.

In VDC's latest report: "2005/2006 telecom core infrastructure market intelligence service volume II: SS7 enabling technologies", Ulticom Signalware's share of global sales of SS7 stack and board bundled solutions for 2005 leads the market with 28% market share.

Ulticom also ranked number one in key geographic regions of the Americas and EMEA.

"Ulticom's performance in the analysis confirms their status as a market leader, and as a provider of key enabling technologies for systems and service providers globally", said Bob Johnson, Senior Telecom Analyst, VDC.

"As new solutions come to market based on IMS, providers will want to choose trusted signalling partners such as Ulticom that provide this essential technology".

Ulticom's IMS-Ready Signalware product portfolio features a comprehensive, multi-protocol development and deployment environment for building a wide range of IMS applications.

A key component of this platform is Sigtran, which is a set of protocols for transporting SS7 messages over an IP network and is an important bridging technology enabling the convergence of communication services.

Many of Ulticom's existing customers have begun the transition to Sigtran as a means to increase flexibility, reduce costs, and overcome the bandwidth limitation inherent in the SS7 network architecture.

Signalware Sigtran brings to IP network signalling all the proven, carrier class qualities of Signalware SS7.

Most importantly, the Signalware API is consistent across both interface options, allowing developers to preserve investments in existing Signalware-based applications and seamlessly migrate to an IP infrastructure.

Ulticom also recently released it's new nSignia signalling gateway product that combines Ulticom's field proven signalling technology with open computing systems to cost-effectively bridge SS7 and IP signalling networks.

By using nSignia signalling gateway as part of a strategy to leverage current network investments, high demand applications such as wireless prepaid, text messaging, free-phone, global roaming, and Voice over IP can be seamlessly migrated towards more efficient, standards-based IP networks.

"Ulticom is dedicated to providing our customers with the highest quality signalling solutions to complement the technologies they choose to deploy", said Osman Duman, Senior Vice President and CMO at Ulticom.

"Our support of key protocols such as SS7, Sigtran, SIP and our recently upgraded Diameter solution provides network and service providers with flexibility of choice from a single partner".

"Our ranking in VDC's report provides validation of our corporate goal to provide the best signalling solutions to the marketplace".
