German alliance expands test coverage
UL International Germany collaborates with the Institute for International Product Safety (I2PS) in Bonn on test and certification services for electrotechnical components.

A new service is available to help organisations meet the European Union's RoHS Directive for electronics manufacturers scheduled to take full effect in July 2006.
UL International is the German subsidiary of Underwriters Laboratories, with headquarters in the USA, and is one of the leaders in testing and certification worldwide.
By working with IPS, UL will increase capacity and extend its spectrum of services, specifically within electrotechnology, electronics and environmental simulation.
The I2PS test laboratory in Bonn, Germany tests in compliance with all national and international standards using state of the art test equipment and measuring technologies.
Test capabilities of the I2PS include materials testing; the simulation of environmental stresses incorporating climate, oscillation, shock, enclosure type; and EMV tests up to short circuit and internal failure with streaming up to 300kA.
Additionally the latest analysis tools are available, for example high-speed video, laser vibrometry and X-ray test systems for ongoing investigations.
